Melbourne producer, vocalist & performer, IJALE, is a self-contained master of his sound. A keen music fan & avid creator, he blends a myriad of Afrocentric sounds & western influences that reflect his Nigerian heritage, Australian upbringing & the multifaceted taste of an open-minded listener of the internet age. These concoctions vary in sound from piece to piece, but are usually punctuated by hints of African percussion, infectious basslines and layered electronic textures, all of which pay direct homage to the hallmark genres of black creativity including Jazz, Soul, RnB, and of course Hip-Hop.
Coming off his most significant year to date, 2020 saw many career highlights for IJALE, including the release of his debut EP ‘Wildly Disparate Sounds’, signing the single ‘Coffee Cups ft. Zephyrrgreeene’ to French label Kitsuné Musique, becoming a finalist in the Melbourne Music Week MERGE competition, which saw him perform live at the Australian Tapestry Workshop, landing Triple J’s Unearthed Artist of the Week in mid 2020 & finally signing to the Melbourne based record label Daily Nightly.
Following a breakout year, IJALE is poised to level up in 2021, firmly planting himself as one of the most promising up and coming hip-hop artists in the country. With the release of his most recent single LIKE THAT garnering praise from Triple J & international radio, IJALE is set to drop his latest mixtape ‘OTTN’ in September 2021. Big things are coming for this incredible talent so make sure you’re paying attention.
